We invented a tool which works as a bridge between architects and structure engineers. To plug-in our tool on a 3DCG program, Maya, it will be the most simple program for analyzing structure. To find solution by our tool, CS-FEM (finite element method), and adjust object over and over can be done on one program visually. Objects that can be analyzed have to be created by polygon primitives, polygon surfaces and any other polygon objects. Analysis procedure is exactly simple. You just select an object, define condition of constraint, material of members, and load of points. You can find a result of the object’s structural characteristic. CS-FEM shows stress distribution and displacement of object. Stress distribution shows by colored NURBS flames. Displacement of object shows by polygon object. You can apply CS-FEM to the displaced object and original object again. We architects should be free to create such a tool to generate a phenomenon / space. CS-FEM especially can open to think structural behavior from students to engineers.
